Over the past fortnight over 300 young football fans have participated in Aberdeen FC Community Trust’s Easter Holiday Coaching Programme throughout Aberdeen City & Shire! Children between the ages of 5 and 12 have participated in the programme which aims to help children improve their football skills and confidence whilst having fun in a safe environment. As with all the AFCCT coaching programmes, the emphasis was on enjoyment, learning new skills, meeting new friends and participating in many small sided games! In addition to receiving some top quality football coaching every participant also received a unique gift and a certificate as a souvenir of their involvement. Some of the participants were also lucky enough to meet AFC stars Andrew Driver and Peter Pawlett as they made an appearance along with AFCCT’s mascot Donny the Sheep at Aberdeen Sports Village on Thursday 16th April. Club Captain Russell Anderson was also on hand to sign autographs for young Dons fans in Westhill on Tuesday 7th April along with U20 starlets Sam Robertson and Frank Ross. Speaking at the conclusion of the Easter Holiday Coaching Programme, AFCCT Coach Liam McGarry said, "Over the past couple of weeks it has been great to see so many kids from the North East get involved with our programme. The enthusiasm for football and attitude shown by the kids has been excellent and I hope to see them all again on our summer holiday coaching programme! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our team of volunteers as without their help the programme would have been nowhere near as successful as it has been.
