NORTHERN LIGHTS CAMPAIGN RAISES OVER £70,000 FOR ABERDEEN FC COMMUNITY TRUST!

Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is proud to celebrate the outstanding fundraising achievements of AFCCT Ambassador, Glen Cairns, who has raised more than £70,000 for the charity through sales of his popular One Night Under the Heavenly Dancers limited‑edition prints.

Captured above Pittodrie Stadium on Gothenburg Day, Glen’s once‑in‑a‑lifetime images of the Northern Lights have resonated deeply with supporters across the North-east. The initial release of the print alone generated more than £23,000, with continued demand helping the total rise to over £70,000 after the second release of prints which also featured signatures from Gothenburg Greats, including prints signed by Sir Alex Ferguson. In total, the campaign raised £72,033.10 for Aberdeen FC Community Trust. Each print sold contributed directly to AFCCT’s mission to improve physical and mental wellbeing, support educational pathways, and build positive futures for people of all ages. The Trust continues to deliver life‑changing programmes across local communities, and Glen’s contribution has played a meaningful role in strengthening that impact.

Glen’s support was formally recognised at the Aberdeen FC Player of the Year Awards 2025, where he was honoured with the Community Supporter of the Year Award. The award recognised Glen’s remarkable fundraising efforts and the difference his support has made to the work of the Trust.

Most recently, Glen presented a cheque to AFCCT Chief Executive, Peter Davidson at the AFC Community Trust Day at Pittodrie on Saturday 21st February, marking a fitting moment to celebrate the success of the initiative as the fundraising campaign now draws to a close. AFCCT Chief Executive, Peter Davidson, commented: “What Glen has achieved through this initiative has been nothing short of incredible. The image itself captured a magical moment above Pittodrie, but what has followed has been even more special. The response from supporters has been phenomenal and the funds raised will help us continue delivering programmes that change lives across the North-east. We’re hugely grateful to Glen for his creativity, efforts and of course his generosity.

Glen Cairns commented, “When I realised the date that I had captured the two images of Pittodrie beneath the Northern Lights, I immediately knew how special they were.”

“I saw it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn those images into something much bigger than a photograph and create a real ripple effect in the community.”

“I am hugely proud to have raised over £70,000 for AFCCT and I hope my story inspires others to get out there and take opportunities when they come to them.”
