Flooring and furniture specialists, Fraser’s of Ellon, have lent their support to Aberdeen FC Community Trust as a funding partner of the Ellon Academy School of Football programme.

As a long-established local business in the town, Fraser’s took the decision to provide significant five figure funding to help with the continuation of the programme within the school.

The School of Football programme aims to create an environment that enables young people – S1 and S2 – to develop key life skills, learn through football and support their transition from primary to secondary school. The hugely successful programme has seen an increase in attendance and a reduction in referrals and exclusions within participants of the programme.

Currently, 54 pupils are undertaking the School of Football programme at Ellon, under the guidance of AFCCT Education and Community Officer, Fraser Burnett.

Frasers, who are the Official Furniture and Flooring Partner to the Dons are already much valued supporters of AFCCT, having come on board as a platinum sponsor of the annual fundraising lunch for the past two years.

Managing Director Colin McKay said: “We are delighted and honoured to be involved with this vitally important programme within Ellon Academy. The work AFCCT are doing across the City and Shire is tremendous and they are an extremely worthwhile charity to support. This collaboration to support young people works alongside our existing partnership with Aberdeen Football Club we continue to build the Frasers brand and raise awareness of the services we provide”

AFCCT Chief Executive, Peter Davidson, added: “We’re hugely grateful to Frasers of Ellon for backing our School of Football programme at Ellon Academy. Support like this makes a real difference. It allows us to use the power of football to engage young people in a different way, helping them build confidence, develop key life skills and make a positive transition through school. Local businesses can have a genuine impact on the lives of young people in their own community and we’re proud to be working alongside Frasers to do just that.”
