In the wake of Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) being awarded £80k in funding by Aberdeen City Council to work with people suffering from dementia a consultation event with key partners was held at AECC.
Over 20 organisations attended the Dementia Friendly Communities Partnership Consultation at AECC on Tuesday 31st March which was geared towards getting the most out of AFCCT’s contribution to supporting people affected by dementia throughout the city.
Aberdeen FC goalkeeper Scott Brown also attended the event and spoke to the attendees about his role as Dementia Friendly Communities ambassador.
Speaking after the event AFCCT’s Community Projects Officer David Smith said, “It was great to see a number of people and organisations from across Aberdeen getting together to help AFCCT provide support and opportunity to people and families affected by dementia. It’s brilliant that Scott Brown has offered to get involved in the programme and to also share his experiences as well. Everyone at AFCCT is delighted that Scott took the time out of his day to come along and talk to the partners. The consultation was very positive with a huge number of organisations looking to help AFCCT deliver in partnership to help people affected by dementia integrate into services we provide.”
