Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) was delighted to be able to support the recent The Gaitherin Festival at Inverurie Academy. The Gaitherin have supported AFCCT with a number of initiatives over the last year helping to deliver programmes with a musical element to them at Pittodrie.

AFCCT were more than happy to reciprocate that support by providing free football coaching to 121 participants at the festival from p4-p7. The youngsters not only enjoyed some football coaching but also got to meet AFCCT’s mascot Donny the Sheep along with Angus the Bull!

AFCCT’s Community Projects Officer, David Smith, said “The Gaitherin is a fantastic charity which helps young people from across Aberdeenshire to access top quality youth work, music tuition, and the chance to increase social skills and enhance their self-confidence. The Gaitherin has been a great friend of AFCCT for over a year now, helping deliver music sessions to the over 65s, and also performing at the first ever AFCCT Christmas Party. We are delighted to help The Gaitherin entertain their young participants by encouraging them to play outdoors, make friends, and learn new skills. Angus and Donny enjoyed their day too!”

After the event Rachel Boal from The Gaitherin said “The participants were very excited to see Angus and Donny this week, and also delighted to get some football coaches from AFCCT along as well. We have made a number of friends in the 22 years we have existed and we are delighted to have AFCCT as our newest friend. The Gaitherin looks to offer young people different experiences throughout the week such as music, drama, dance, singing, and arts n crafts, and to have football on offer this week supported by AFCCT has been an extra bonus.”
