In partnership with TAQA, the Scottish FA, and Scottish Women’s Football, Aberdeen FC Community Trust launched the Girls League football development pathway for girls aged 5-12 across the North-East of Scotland in September 2022. Participating in 7v7 fixtures and a mixture of 4v4 and 5v5 festivals, the Girls League currently has over 500 registered players across 20 Grassroots Clubs in the region.
The aspiration is to grow the game, increase participation numbers and foster a robust pathway into the top tier of women’s football in Scotland. Thanks to the support of the main sponsor TAQA, and with the Trust’s continued investment in equality within the sport, the game continues to thrive locally.
The Girls League coaches came together for another in-service night. This is in preparation for the next block of fixtures and festivals that happen across Aberdeen City and Shire which provided on-the-pitch content and coach discussion.
David Clark, Football Development Officer commented, “It was another great night for all the coaches to build connections in the build up to the new block. This is a great chance to invite the coaches here to Cormack Park and have open discussions about improving the girl’s game and get the valued input from the coaches and volunteers.”
